11 Problems with the Church in America (plus one bonus)
How dare I even suggest there might be a problem with the church in America? I mean, look at the great things we're doing. Look at the "mega churches" (so called). We've got it happening. What would God do without us? (Selah~pause for reflection)
The Ephesian church long ago was the most affluent. They had great outreaches. They were the best. Except for one thing. They'd lost "first love." (Revelation 2:4) I suggest the church in America has done the same thing when she falls prey to the following...
11 Problems with the Church in America (plus one bonus):
1. It's all about saving the lost (good) and very little discipleship (bad)
2. It's all about numbers (crowd size)
3. It's all about human leaders ("American Idol" worship)
4. It's all about programs (not totally bad) and lacking in relationships (not good)
5. It's all about performance
6. It's all about comparison
7. It's all about perfection
8. It's all about money
9. It's all about controlling the actions of people (legalism)
10. It's all about appealing to "me, myself and I"
11. It's all about technology (not much room for the Holy Spirit)
BONUS: It's all about co-existing with the "world" (1 John 2:15-17; Matthew 5:16)

It's sad to admit but I see most of the churches in America have become nothing more than religious social clubs. Tithes and offerings nothing more than membership dues. I see this especially here in the Bible Belt. Lord Jesus have mercy on us.
wow...so true! The body of Christ seriously needs to repent and get back to relationship with Him. The power is not like it once was in our church service as a result of this mess!
Yes you are right about this most serious issue. What can we do to bring about an awaeness and cange to th churches as a whole? I'm not sure about churches in other countries but here in the US we need to be the change.
So true. What do we do about it? Trying to find a good church is 130 miles away. People that expect churches to act Biblically, get chased out. We are the minority, and they are the majority. It is very difficult to note the difference between the church & the world. How devastating and how sad.
I agree that churches that get off track have these problems. My church does not. We are small, loving and Christ centered. A pastor must choose to focus on Christ and not money.
