Character Beyond Name Only
Tweet
Journey to the Celestial City #26. In our continuing look at John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress," today we find the man, Christian, having been greeted by Watchful the Porter, he's now introduced to a lady named Discretion. Christian would enter her house to meet her sisters, but before that Discretion holds him to scrutiny. She therefore asks a host of questions of the good man to make sure his character is beyond just name only. And there are many who call themselves "Christ followers," but they aren't really following Jesus. Do you know anyone like that? And if we would be the Lord's disciples we must cling/adhere to and place our complete confidence and trust in Him. And we must also hold dear His Word to obey and upon it. Then into her house Discretion will invite us. She will not receive another. "'If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.'" (John 14:15) More to come in the next blog post. Check back soon.
